Lily Collins, the actor best known for starring in Emily in Paris, has been cast to portray the legendary Audrey Hepburn in an upcoming film that will explore the making of the 1961 classic Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Collins, 36, confirmed the role and her involvement as a producer on social media, saying the project has been nearly a decade in the making and that she has long admired Hepburn’s work and cultural impact.
The film will be based on Sam Wasson’s non‑fiction book Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M.: Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and the Dawn of the Modern Woman, which offers a detailed behind‑the‑scenes account of how the iconic movie was developed and produced. The screenplay is being written by Alena Smith, the creator of the Apple TV series Dickinson. No director has yet been named, and the production is expected to delve into studio deliberations, casting decisions and the creative contributions of figures such as screenwriter Truman Capote, costume designer Edith Head and director Blake Edwards.
Breakfast at Tiffany’s, adapted from Truman Capote’s novella, became a defining film of Audrey Hepburn’s career, cementing her status as a fashion and cultural icon. The original movie was nominated for multiple Academy Awards and featured Hepburn in her celebrated role as Holly Golightly. The new project aims to show how the film came together and the decisions that shaped its legacy.
Following the announcement on 23 February, fans and colleagues praised Collins’s casting, noting her resemblance to Hepburn and her enthusiasm for the role. Collins shared that the film represents both a professional milestone and a personal tribute to one of her artistic inspirations.
Collins is currently involved in the sixth season of Emily in Paris while preparing for this major cinematic undertaking.
