A community farm that has served as a green haven for volunteers and visitors for years is urgently appealing for public support to raise thousands of pounds for essential repairs.
The farm, which relies heavily on donations and the goodwill of volunteers, is facing significant costs to fix deteriorating infrastructure that has reached the end of its lifespan. Organisers have launched a fundraising campaign in a bid to cover the work and secure the site’s future.
“We are at a critical point,” a spokesperson for the farm told The English Chronicle. “The buildings and facilities have given fantastic service, but years of weather and wear and tear have taken their toll. Without these repairs, we simply cannot continue to operate safely or host the community groups that rely on us.”
The appeal comes as community farms and gardens across the country face mounting financial pressure, with many turning to grant funding and public donations to survive. While several agricultural grant programmes exist, they often focus on new projects rather than maintaining existing community assets.
The farm’s committee is now calling on local residents, former volunteers, and anyone who has benefited from the site over the years to contribute whatever they can. Regular updates on the fundraising total are being shared through the farm’s social media channels.
“We know times are hard for everyone, but even a small donation makes a difference,” the spokesperson added. “This place belongs to the community. It was built by local people, and we believe they will help us save it.”
Anyone wishing to support the appeal can donate via the farm’s website or by visiting in person during opening hours.
