Police Scotland have arrested a man in connection with the fatal shooting of Jordan Gray, who was found dead in his Motherwell home last December.
The 26‑year‑old suffered fatal firearm wounds inside his flat at Shields Court shortly after 10.30pm on 14 December 2025. His death shocked the local community and prompted a major investigation.
On Tuesday morning, officers executed warrants at Muirhouse Road in Motherwell, arresting a 58‑year‑old man at around 6.45am. Police confirmed the arrest but said enquiries into the death remain ongoing.
Residents in Motherwell expressed relief that progress has been made in the case. Friends described Jordan as “a kind soul who didn’t deserve this,” while neighbours said the incident had left them fearful in the weeks following the shooting.
Floral tributes were laid outside Shields Court in the days after his death, with many calling for justice and stronger action against gun crime in Scotland.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We can confirm that a 58‑year‑old man has been arrested in connection with the death of Jordan Gray. Our enquiries remain ongoing.”
Detectives are continuing to appeal for information from the public, urging anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward.
The arrested man is expected to be questioned further before a decision is made on charges. Prosecutors will review the evidence gathered during the investigation, which has involved forensic analysis and witness interviews.
For now, the arrest marks a significant development in a case that has weighed heavily on Motherwell for months.
