Wiltshire Police have named Sarah Forrester, 55, as the woman who died in Swindon, prompting a major murder investigation. Forrester, a mental health counsellor, passed away following an incident at a Moredon residence on Friday evening. Emergency services responded to reports of disorder at the property, finding her unresponsive. She was pronounced dead at the scene, and police have since launched a full-scale inquiry into the circumstances surrounding her death.
A 13-year-old girl, initially arrested on suspicion of murder, has been released on bail as the investigation continues. Authorities emphasised that no other individuals are being sought in connection with the incident. Wiltshire Police have maintained a heightened presence in the local area, ensuring public safety while officers gather evidence and conduct witness interviews.
DCI Guy Elkins, leading the investigation, expressed condolences to Forrester’s family and friends. “Our thoughts are with Sarah’s friends and family at this awful time,” he said. He added that the investigation is being conducted by the major crime team and that residents may continue to observe increased policing activity in the area. Police have also appealed for the public to refrain from speculation while inquiries remain ongoing.
The Kelly Foundation, a Swindon-based mental health charity where Forrester worked, released a statement describing the loss as devastating. The charity highlighted her dedication to both her professional role and her two young children, praising her kindness, commitment, and humor. “Sarah was pivotal in the work we do at the Kelly Foundation and her loss is a hugely traumatic event, not just for us and her colleagues, but especially for her children and family,” the statement read.
Colleagues described Forrester as thoughtful, considerate, caring, and funny, embodying the values the charity seeks to promote. The foundation added that she will be profoundly missed and requested privacy for the family at this difficult time. The Kelly Foundation was established in memory of BBC Radio Wiltshire presenter Kelly Jobanputra, who passed away in 2019.
Police investigations are ongoing, and authorities have stressed the importance of allowing the inquiry to proceed without interference. Residents in Moredon continue to encounter increased police presence while officers follow leads, conduct interviews, and collect forensic evidence to establish the full circumstances of Forrester’s death.
