Prince William, the Prince of Wales, has issued a heartfelt tribute to a 25‑year‑old British Army medic found dead at her barracks earlier this month, expressing profound sadness over her loss and commending her courage and compassion.
Corporal Lucy Wilde, who served as a medic with the British Army and had previously posted videos about army life on TikTok, was found dead in her accommodation at a military base in Warminster, Wiltshire, on 5 February. The Ministry of Defence confirmed that an investigation is ongoing into the circumstances surrounding her death, while authorities have said at this stage it is not being treated as suspicious.
In a statement shared on social media, William described his “immense sadness” upon learning of Wilde’s passing and recalled meeting her during her time with the Welsh Guards, where her “warmth and compassion were unmistakable”. He paid tribute to her dedicated work as a medic and offered his “heartfelt condolences” to her family, friends and colleagues.
Wilde had served with the Welsh Guards before transferring to the Royal Yorkshire Regiment, and was widely respected for her professionalism and empathetic nature. Tributes from her regiment highlighted her calmness under pressure, tireless care for others, and unwavering commitment to her role.
During her military career, Wilde was commended for her bravery after she was first on scene at a mass casualty incident in the Falkland Islands, where she provided urgent medical assistance following a vehicle accident, earning admiration from her peers. Beyond her army duties, she had built a significant social media following by sharing workouts, fitness routines and insights into daily army life, inspiring many young followers.
Wilde’s brother, Josh Wilde, also paid tribute to her resilience and compassionate spirit, describing her as “strength wrapped in softness” who served with pride and devotion. Tributes from those who knew her remember her as a genuine and deeply respected individual whose loss has been profoundly felt across her regiment and beyond.
Amid ongoing inquiries into her death, the military community continues to mourn the passing of a medic who was widely admired for both her professional skill and her personal warmth.
