Two people arrested by police investigating the disappearance and presumed murder of Lisa Dorrian have been released on bail pending further inquiries, authorities confirmed on Thursday. The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said detectives remain committed to progressing the long‑running investigation and appealed for public assistance to help resolve the case.

The 25‑year‑old woman from Bangor, County Down, vanished in February 2005 after attending a party at Ballyhalbert Caravan Park. Despite extensive search operations across multiple sites over the past two decades and ongoing inquiry work, her body has never been found. Police believe she was murdered either on the night of her disappearance or in the early hours of the following morning.

The two individuals, a 40‑year‑old woman and a 42‑year‑old man, were arrested on Wednesday as part of the investigation by the PSNI’s Major Investigation Team. Both were detained on suspicion of murder, assisting offenders, withholding information and preventing a lawful and decent burial. The woman was arrested in Bangor, while the man was arrested in Scotland with the assistance of Police Scotland.

On Thursday evening, police confirmed that they had been granted bail pending further inquiries. In a statement, the PSNI said that while the arrests were a significant development in a case that has remained unresolved for more than 21 years, detectives still require additional information to bring clarity and justice to Lisa’s family. The PSNI reiterated its appeal to the public, urging anyone with relevant information to contact police via the non‑emergency number or through the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously.

Lisa’s disappearance has been one of Northern Ireland’s most enduring unsolved cases. Despite numerous arrests and repeated searches of land, air and sea sites—including those at and near Ballyhalbert—no trace of her remains has ever been discovered. The renewed focus on the investigation in recent months has coincided with the upcoming 21st anniversary of her disappearance, intensifying calls from her family and community for answers.
