Born Kelley Klebenow, Mack died peacefully in her hometown of Cincinnati on Saturday after a courageous battle with glioma, a form of tumor affecting the central nervous system.
The heartbreaking news was shared through a statement on the social platform CaringBridge, which revealed the nature of her illness and her serene passing. Mack’s Instagram page also bore a poignant tribute, describing her as a “bright, fervent light” who had moved on to a place where all must eventually go.
Fans, colleagues, and friends have since expressed their condolences and admiration for the actress, remembering her as both exceptionally gifted and profoundly kind. Alanna Masterson, who shared the screen with Mack in The Walking Dead, paid tribute to her by calling her an “incredible human” and expressed pride in having worked alongside her in their final episode together.
Throughout her career, Mack amassed an impressive portfolio, including 35 acting credits and five producing roles. Her most recognized performances include playing Addy in the ninth season of The Walking Dead and Penelope Jacobs in season eight of Chicago Med, as well as appearances in FOX’s 9-1-1. Beyond television, she also lent her voice and presence to commercials for notable brands such as Dr. Pepper, Ross Stores, Dairy Queen, and Chick-fil-A.
Mack’s passion for storytelling ignited early, sparked by a gift of a mini video camera she received as a child. This early enthusiasm led her to pursue acting in commercials at a young age, a foundation that blossomed into a dedicated career.
A graduate of Hinsdale Central High School, she further honed her craft by earning a bachelor’s degree in cinematography from Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts in Orange, California. Her warmth, creativity, and steadfast support of those around her earned her the respect and admiration of many in the entertainment industry.
She is survived by her loving family, including her parents Kristen and Lindsay Klebenow, sister Kathryn, brother Parker, grandparents Lois and Larry Klebenow, and her boyfriend Logan Lanier.
Mack’s legacy will endure through her body of work and in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. The statement from her family concludes by affirming that she will be “deeply missed and forever remembered for her talent, kindness, and vibrant spirit.”
