Published: 10 April 2026. The English Chronicle Desk. The English Chronicle Online.

The digital landscape has once again become the focal point of a harrowing legal case. A young man who obsessively groomed a vulnerable schoolgirl has been handed a prison sentence. Carlo Tritta first encountered his fourteen-year-old victim on the popular gaming platform known as Roblox. His predatory actions began in early 2024 and quickly escalated into a truly terrifying ordeal. Tritta moved their interactions from the game to private apps like Discord and Snapchat. This transition allowed him to bypass the initial safety filters provided by the gaming site. He engaged the young girl in highly sexualised conversations over several months of contact. The court heard how the defendant systematically manipulated the child through various digital messaging tools. He also shared numerous intimate images and videos with the victim during this dark period. The grooming process was described as both relentless and deeply damaging to the young girl. Tritta eventually amassed a collection of indecent images featuring the child on his personal devices.

The situation reached a critical point when the victim’s mother discovered the illicit messages. She immediately contacted the police to report the disturbing nature of the online interactions. Tritta was subsequently arrested and interviewed by officers regarding his communications with the minor girl. However, the legal proceedings did not stop his obsessive pursuit of the Manchester teenager. He breached his bail conditions by travelling hundreds of miles from his Hampshire home address. Tritta arrived uninvited at the girl’s residence in an attempt to influence her testimony. He reportedly walked through the back door and confronted the girl in her own home. The prosecutor explained that he ignored her repeated pleas for him to leave the property. He also sent letters and made phone calls to further frustrate the criminal investigation. These actions were seen as a blatant attempt to pervert the course of UK justice. A court had initially handed him a suspended sentence for these specific intimidation offences.

Just three days after receiving that leniency, Tritta returned to the family home in Manchester. He attempted to confront the girl again and damaged a video camera on the property. This brazen disregard for the law led to his immediate arrest and further charges. During the sentencing at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court, the impact was made clear. The victim provided a statement detailing how she felt trapped and deeply upset by him. She admitted to being scared of moving around her house during the late night. The teenager feared that Tritta would be waiting for her in the shadows downstairs. Her mother also told the court that the family was constantly living on edge. Their home no longer feels like a safe space for them to exist peacefully. They have even considered moving house to escape the memories of his intrusive visits. The emotional toll on the entire family has been described as significant and lasting.

The legal defence argued that Tritta was essentially fixated due to his neurodiverse condition. Edward Steele noted that the defendant has Asperger syndrome and a mixed depressive disorder. He suggested these conditions might have compromised his understanding of his own criminal actions. However, the presiding judge, Recorder Ciaran Rankin, took a much firmer view of the case. He ruled that the pattern of behaviour required a period of immediate custodial time. A pre-sentence report also labelled Tritta as a high risk to other young children. The judge noted that the intimidation occurred almost immediately after a previous court order. Consequently, Tritta was sentenced to twenty-eight months in prison for his various predatory crimes. He pleaded guilty to making indecent images and causing a child to watch sexual acts. The court also took into account the counts of witness intimidation and criminal damage. This sentence reflects the gravity of the harm caused to the young victim involved.

The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children has reacted to the news. A spokesperson stated that this case highlights the severe dangers young people face online today. They argued that the responsibility for safety should not fall solely on the parents. Technology companies must ensure that safety is a primary focus during the design process. The NSPCC is calling for more robust protections to prevent such predators from operating freely. DC Jodi Bartlett, who led the police investigation, also issued a very stark warning. She said Tritta’s behaviour shows the terrifying ways criminals use the web to cause harm. The officer urged parents to be more aware of who their children contact online. Roblox has also released a statement expressing deep sadness regarding this very troubling case. They claimed to have implemented new age checks to limit communication between different age groups. The company also uses advanced AI systems designed to detect and prevent grooming behaviour.

Despite these corporate assurances, the case serves as a grim reminder of digital vulnerabilities. The transition from gaming platforms to unmonitored apps remains a major concern for authorities. Detective Bartlett emphasised that the victim was subjected to a campaign of pure fear. The persistence of the defendant, even after police intervention, was particularly noted by the court. Tritta’s journey from Eastleigh to Manchester shows a level of dedication that is truly alarming. Such physical stalking following online grooming is a nightmare scenario for many UK families. The legal system has sent a clear message by imposing an immediate prison term. Experts believe more work is needed to bridge the gap between technology and safety. Children are often more tech-savvy than the adults who are tasked with protecting them. This power dynamic can lead to situations where grooming goes undetected for long periods. The community is now looking for more proactive measures from the UK government.

The English Chronicle continues to follow the broader implications of this significant court ruling. We will monitor how social media giants respond to the growing demand for accountability. The 28-month sentence is a step toward justice, but the psychological scars remain deep. Support services are working with the family to help them regain a sense of security. It is hoped that this case will encourage other victims to come forward. Reporting such crimes is the first step in stopping predators like Tritta from acting. The public is encouraged to use reporting tools on all major social media platforms. Awareness and education are the most effective weapons against these types of online threats. The safety of children in the digital age remains a top priority for us. We will provide updates as more information regarding online safety legislation becomes available soon. For now, the Manchester family can finally begin the long process of healing. The conviction marks the end of a very dark chapter in their lives.
