A 40-year-old woman who was found fatally stabbed in East London has been formally identified as Agne Druskienea, a resident of Hornchurch. The tragic incident unfolded on the evening of Saturday, October 18, when emergency services were called to a residential property following reports of a violent domestic disturbance.
According to information obtained from police briefings, local news outlets, and eyewitness accounts shared on social media, paramedics and Metropolitan Police officers arrived at the scene shortly after 8 p.m. They discovered Ms Druskienea with multiple stab wounds. Despite the immediate efforts of the London Ambulance Service, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Specialist Crime Command (Homicide) have since launched a formal murder investigation. The victim’s husband, Augustinas Druskis, aged 43, of Cranham Road, Hornchurch, has been charged with murder in connection with the killing. Police confirmed that he was arrested shortly after the incident at the same address and taken into custody for questioning overnight. Mr Druskis is scheduled to appear before Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Monday (October 20).
Authorities have not disclosed further details regarding the possible motive, but sources close to the investigation have described the case as a domestic-related homicide. Forensic officers were seen conducting an extensive search of the property throughout Sunday morning, collecting physical evidence and canvassing nearby homes for CCTV footage and witness statements.
Neighbours in the quiet Hornchurch community expressed shock and sorrow following the incident. One resident, who requested anonymity, told The English Chronicle, “They seemed like an ordinary couple. We never heard any loud arguments or signs of trouble. It’s devastating to think something so horrific could happen here.”
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said in an official statement:
Officers were called at 8:04 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, to reports of a stabbing at a residential address in Hornchurch. Emergency services attended, and a woman in her 40s was found with stab injuries. Despite the efforts of paramedics, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. A man has been arrested and charged in connection with the investigation.”
Ms Druskienea’s death marks yet another grim reminder of the rising number of domestic violence-related killings in the UK this year. Data released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) earlier this month shows that more than one in four homicides recorded in England and Wales in the past year were linked to domestic abuse. Women remain disproportionately affected, with more than two-thirds of victims in such cases being female and the perpetrator most often a current or former partner.
Social media platforms have seen an outpouring of grief and tributes for Ms Druskienea since her identity was confirmed on Sunday morning. Friends described her as “a kind, hardworking woman who her colleagues and neighbours loved.”
Local councillors and community leaders have called for stronger measures to prevent domestic violence and to ensure victims receive early intervention and protection. The English Chronicle understands that community support services in Havering have already reached out to neighbours and family members offering counselling and assistance.
As of Sunday evening, the victim’s family is being supported by police family liaison officers while post-mortem examinations are expected to be carried out early next week to confirm the cause of death.
The Metropolitan Police have appealed to anyone who may have information about the incident or who witnessed suspicious activity near Cranham Road between 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Saturday to contact the police incident room on 101, quoting reference CAD 7019/18Oct, or to provide information anonymously through Crimestoppers.
The tragic killing of Agne Druskienea has left a deep scar in the Hornchurch community—a reminder of how quickly domestic conflict can turn fatal and how crucial early intervention remains in protecting vulnerable individuals. As investigations continue, the family and community await justice for a woman whose life ended far too soon.
