Swindon, UK – The community of Swindon has been left in shock following the death of 55-year-old counsellor Sarah Forrester, who was found unresponsive in her home on Baydon Close, Moredon, last Friday evening. Wiltshire Police confirmed that a 13-year-old girl arrested on suspicion of her murder has been released on bail, as inquiries into the incident continue.
Police were called to Forrester’s home at around 7:00 p.m. GMT after reports of a domestic disorder. Officers discovered her unresponsive, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Ch Supt Guy Elkins of Wiltshire Police said authorities are not seeking any other suspects and assured residents that investigations remain ongoing. “Our thoughts are with Sarah’s friends and family at this awful time,” he said. “The investigation into her death is being led by our major crime investigation team, and local residents will continue to see increased policing activity in the area.”
Forrester was a dedicated counsellor at The Kelly Foundation, a Swindon-based charity supporting individuals with severe anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions. The foundation was established in memory of BBC Radio Wiltshire presenter Kelly Jobanputra, who tragically took her own life in 2019.
In a statement, The Kelly Foundation described Forrester’s death as “heartbreaking” and highlighted her pivotal role in the organisation. “Sarah was devoted both to her work and her two children. Her loss is a hugely traumatic event for us, her colleagues, and especially her family,” the statement said. The charity added that Forrester was “an incredible person, kind, thoughtful, considerate, caring, and funny,” embodying the principles the organisation represents. “She will be truly, truly missed,” it concluded.
News of her death has shocked residents in the Moredon area, many of whom remembered her as a warm and friendly presence. Neighbours praised her dedication to helping those struggling with mental health challenges and expressed their sorrow at the circumstances surrounding her passing. Local vigils and online tributes have been held in her memory, reflecting the deep impact she had on her community.
The 13-year-old suspect’s release on bail follows UK legal procedures, which take into account the age of the individual and the ongoing nature of investigations. Wiltshire Police continue to urge anyone with information regarding the case to come forward and continue providing support to the community during this difficult time.
Sarah Forrester leaves behind two children and a lasting legacy of compassion and dedication to mental health support in Swindon. Her colleagues, friends, and family remember her for her kindness, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to helping others, a legacy that will endure despite the tragic circumstances of her death.
