Kylian Mbappe made Champions League history by scoring the second fastest hat-trick ever, helping Real Madrid secure a thrilling 4-3 victory over Olympiakos at the Stadio Georgios Karaiskakis. The French superstar scored three goals within seven minutes in the first half, netting in the 22nd, 24th, and 29th minutes, before adding a fourth later to complete his remarkable performance. Only Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah holds a faster hat-trick record, having scored three in just six minutes and 12 seconds against Rangers in October 2022.
Real Madrid had initially fallen behind after Chiquinho’s early strike for Olympiakos, but Mbappe’s blitz turned the game around. Mehdi Taremi and Ayoub El Kaabi also scored for the Greek side, keeping the match tense until the final whistle. Mbappe’s display cemented his status as one of the Champions League’s most electrifying talents and was a key factor in Real Madrid maintaining their strong start in LaLiga and Europe.
In another dramatic fixture, Atletico Madrid snatched a last-gasp 2-1 victory over Inter Milan. Julian Alvarez opened the scoring for the Italians before Piotr Zielinski equalized, but Jose Maria Gimenez’s stoppage-time header handed Atletico the three points, sending their fans into raptures.
Elsewhere in the competition, Atalanta continued their strong campaign with a 3-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt, thanks to quickfire second-half goals from Ademola Lookman, Ederson, and Charles De Ketelaere. Sporting Lisbon also secured a 3-0 victory against Club Brugge with goals from Geovany Quenda, Luis Suarez, and Francisco Trincao.
FC Copenhagen survived a late fightback from Kairat Almaty to hold on for a 3-2 victory. Viktor Dadason, Jordan Larsson, and Robert had given Copenhagen a comfortable lead, but late goals from Dastan Satpayev and substitute Olzhas Baibek made the finish tense before the hosts held firm.
The night was filled with dramatic twists and historic performances, highlighting the excitement and unpredictability of the Champions League, with Mbappe’s record-breaking feat dominating headlines across Europe.
