A woman has died following a serious two-vehicle collision on a major road in the Scottish town of Huntly, police have confirmed .
The crash happened around 6pm on Sunday, 8 March, at the junction of the A96 and the A920 near Huntly in Aberdeenshire . Emergency services attended the scene following reports of a collision involving two cars.
A grey Peugeot 208 and a blue Volkswagen Passat were involved in the incident . A 53-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene .
Three other people were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment to non-serious injuries . The road was closed for around 10 hours to allow for collision investigation work .
Sergeant Dave Cooper from Elgin Road Policing said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who has died. Enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash to contact us” .
Police have urged any witnesses or anyone with dash-cam footage that could assist the investigation to come forward .
