Peter Andre has expressed his pride over his son Junior Andre, who recently announced a period of reflection and a “quiet season” away from the spotlight, following a turbulent period marked by public disagreements between Peter and his ex-wife Katie Price. The musician and television personality, who shares Junior, 20, and daughter Princess, 18, with Price, has highlighted his son’s decision to step back from music as a positive and powerful choice, allowing him space to grow personally and creatively.
Junior’s statement, posted on Instagram last week, revealed his intention to move through life quietly while continuing to develop his talents. He wrote: “Sometimes the most quiet seasons are the most powerful ones. I’ve been moving in silence, learning, growing, making moves you haven’t seen yet. I think about you all more than you know… and when the time’s right, you’ll understand why I’ve been so lowkey. My time is coming and when it does, we’re all going up together.”
Peter Andre, 52, elaborated on his son’s decision in an exclusive column for New magazine, describing Junior’s approach as a natural and necessary step for a young adult navigating both music and life. “After music success, he stepped back – to be a real teenager, really. Plus, he moved in with his girlfriend and has just been enjoying life. Knowing Junior, he’ll show the world what he’s got. He’s a talented songwriter,” Peter said. He emphasized that while he offers guidance, Junior is determined to carve his own path. “As his dad, of course I’ll always offer work advice, but he does his own thing and I love that. He will do things in his own time.”
The Andre family has recently been embroiled in a highly publicised dispute, following Peter’s explosive statement regarding Katie Price and their children’s living arrangements. Peter asserted that he had endured repeated false claims from Price and her family over the years, explaining that Junior and Princess have been under his care since 2018 due to well-documented concerns and a legally binding family court order. He also referenced prior court rulings in 2011 and 2015, which found that Price had made false claims and was required to pay damages and apologise.
Reacting to Peter’s statement, a spokesperson for Katie Price told The Mirror that she is in a “much better and clear headspace” and is allowing legal channels to address the matter. “Kate will no longer be gaslighted and bullied as she once was,” the spokesperson added, indicating that the situation is now being handled appropriately and professionally.
Despite the public tensions, Peter Andre’s focus has remained on supporting his children, particularly Junior, during this phase of personal growth. His comments underscore a parent’s pride in a child’s decision to take control of their life, develop independence, and pursue their passions at their own pace, even amidst ongoing family disputes.
