Brazil continued their commanding run in the World Cup qualifiers with a convincing 3-0 victory over Chile at the iconic Maracanã Stadium. Although Carlo Ancelotti’s side had already secured qualification for next year’s tournament, the win moved the five-time World champions into second place, with one match remaining.

Chile briefly threatened to respond in the second half, and defender Guillermo Maripan initially received a red card for a late challenge, though the decision was downgraded to yellow after a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) review. Brazil sealed the win in the 75th minute when Newcastle midfielder Guimaraes scrambled the ball over the line after Henrique’s shot struck the underside of the crossbar, completing a dominant performance.

With this victory, Brazil sit one point ahead of Uruguay in the race for second place, though they remain ten points behind runaway leaders Argentina, who defeated Venezuela 3-0 in Buenos Aires.
