The former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn is poised to become the parliamentary leader of Your Party, the fledgling left‑wing political movement he co‑founded with fellow ex‑Labour MP Zarah Sultana, after his supporters secured a majority in the party’s internal leadership election. Party members voted earlier this week in an election for the central executive committee (CEC), with Corbyn‑aligned candidates winning 14 of the 24 seats available, compared with seven won by Sultana’s supporters and three by independents.
Your Party, launched in July 2025 as a breakaway alternative to Labour, operates under a collective leadership model rather than a single formal leader. However, the majority on the CEC held by Corbyn’s slate — known as “The Many” — means he is expected to be named the party’s parliamentary leader, giving him primary influence over its direction in the House of Commons where the party holds four seats.
The closely fought contest, which saw 25,347 members — roughly 61 per cent of verified party members — take part in the vote, capped months of factional division between Corbyn and Sultana over strategy and governance. Corbyn has urged the movement to unite around a broader left‑wing platform and to challenge what he called “the fear, divisiveness and racism” of both the Labour Party and Reform UK, indicating his intent to push a bold socialist agenda.
Sultana, a high‑profile MP who co‑founded the party with Corbyn but has emphasised grassroots democracy and decentralised decision‑making, was elected to the committee alongside Corbyn. Her faction’s reduced representation highlights persistent tensions within the party over its future direction and structure.
Political analysts note that Corbyn’s expected leadership marks a defining moment for Your Party as it seeks to consolidate its parliamentary presence ahead of upcoming elections, even as internal disputes — and questions about cohesion — continue to shape its evolution.
