Baby Killed in Stroller Brooklyn: Amare Green Charged with Murder

New York City is in mourning following a “senseless and horrifying” shooting that claimed the life of a 7-month-old girl on Wednesday afternoon, 1 April 2026. The infant, identified as Kaori Patterson-Moore, was sitting in her stroller on a busy Brooklyn sidewalk when she was struck by a stray bullet. The NYPD has characterized the incident as a gang-motivated attack in which the child was a tragic, unintended victim.

In a display of profound grace, the baby’s grandmother, Linda Oyinkoinyan—a local pastor—told reporters that she and her husband forgive those involved despite their “unbearable” grief. Meanwhile, Kaori’s mother, Lianna Charles-Moore, spoke through tears of the void left behind: “I can’t get her back. She’s gone, and I can’t ever see her again.“

The tragedy has struck a particularly sour note for city officials, coming just as the NYPD touted record-low crime figures. In the first quarter of 2026, the city experienced its fewest murders and shooting incidents since statistics were first recorded.
