A rider competing in a Pre-TT Classic race has died after reportedly appearing to lose control during a high-speed section of the course, prompting an immediate investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
Race organisers confirmed that the competitor was involved in a serious crash during the event, which forms part of the build-up to the Isle of Man TT races and attracts experienced road racing riders.
Emergency medical teams were deployed rapidly to the scene, but the rider was pronounced dead following the incident.
Officials said the race was stopped temporarily while safety crews secured the area and began an initial assessment of what had occurred.
Early reports suggest the rider may have lost control of the motorcycle on a fast section of the course, although investigators have not yet confirmed the precise cause.
The event organisers said they are working closely with race officials and relevant authorities to review all available evidence, including track conditions and mechanical factors.
The Pre-TT Classic is known for its demanding road circuit, where riders compete on closed public roads featuring high-speed straights and technical bends.
Motorsport safety experts note that road racing events carry inherent risks despite extensive safety protocols and medical preparedness.
Fellow competitors paid tribute to the rider, describing the incident as a tragic reminder of the dangers associated with high-speed road racing.
Authorities have informed the rider’s family, and support services have been made available to those affected by the incident.
A full investigation is expected to be conducted before the start of the main TT racing programme.
