Transfers were still not completed when he publicly ruled himself out of standing for parliament. That specific public announcement appears at odds with details found in a recent political book. The book states that plans were already in motion to launch his candidacy by mid-May. Reform had allegedly recruited a producer to help promote an event featuring Nigel Farage then. A venue in London was under serious consideration for this planned campaign launch event recently. Farage has repeatedly insisted the money was an unconditional gift without any specific strings attached. He argues he had no reason to declare it to the official parliamentary oversight authorities.
