Singer and television personality Peter Andre has reportedly been left “shocked” and “disgusted” by controversial comments made by his former wife, Katie Price, during a resurfaced video in which she appeared to dismiss his young children as “irrelevant.” The development has reignited tensions between the former couple and is understood to have prompted Andre to seek urgent legal advice.
The video in question, which was released by Katie Price’s ex-partner Alex Reid, shows the former glamour model counting bundles of cash while seated next to her daughter, Princess, now 18, whom she shares with Peter Andre. Despite Price’s well-documented financial struggles, including two separate bankruptcies in recent years, she appeared nonchalant as she stacked large amounts of money on camera, at one point declaring that she was “enjoying counting” the piles.
In the same clip, Price makes disparaging remarks about Andre’s current wife, Dr Emily Andre, and the two children he shares with her. Referring to them as “irrelevant,” she dismissed their role in her daughter’s life, a comment that sources close to Peter Andre described as “deeply shocking and inappropriate.” One source told The chronicle desk: “He’s so shocked that she would do this in front of their young child and say that his young children are irrelevant. It’s not about the money. How could a mother do that about young children?”
The video also shows Princess asking her mother whether she would contribute to her and her brother Junior’s private school fees. Price, rather than addressing the question sincerely, raised her middle finger and retorted: “Your dad can sit on that.” At another stage, Price reflected on her bankruptcy proceedings, telling her daughter: “I’m in bankruptcy until next May now,” while claiming ownership of a London flat that was later confirmed to have already been dealt with in financial settlement proceedings arising from her divorce.
Price’s spokesperson responded to the controversy by downplaying the contents of the video, explaining that it had already been shared with her bankruptcy trustee months ago. The spokesperson clarified that the cash featured in the clip did not belong to Price, and the property referred to had long been considered within the financial settlement process of her divorce from Andre. “Katie has fully complied with the Trustee’s investigations into the same,” the statement added.
Peter Andre’s team, however, appears less willing to brush the matter aside. A representative for the Mysterious Girl singer confirmed that lawyers are now involved, with the matter expected to escalate further.
Katie Price’s financial troubles have been the subject of intense media scrutiny for years. She was first declared bankrupt in 2019 after accumulating debts of £3.5 million, including almost £1 million owed to HMRC. In March 2024, she was declared bankrupt for a second time, this time for £761,994 relating to another unpaid HMRC demand. Her creditors also included Alex Reid, who was awarded £175,000 in damages and costs after Price unlawfully shared a sex tape involving him. In the video released by Reid, Price is heard remarking that she had “extended” her bankruptcy because “Alex Reid wants money from me and he won’t be able to get it.” Reid, reacting to the footage, said it was “unbelievable” to watch her count cash so brazenly while claiming financial ruin. He accused Price of lying and declared he was determined to expose the truth.
In a statement accompanying the release of the footage, Reid said: “Over the years, you have seen countless stories by Katie Price directed at me, Peter, Keiran and others. Today I want to be clear. I am spearheading a campaign to expose the truth. This isn’t about gossip but about evidence. It’s not about rumour, it’s about reality. After years of silence, the time has finally come to reveal all.”
The video, believed to have been filmed in late 2020, reportedly runs for one minute and 38 seconds. It is now in the hands of Price’s bankruptcy trustee, who continues to investigate her financial affairs and to seek recoveries from third parties.
Despite the resurfaced controversy, Katie Price has attempted to paint a different picture of her circumstances in recent months. Speaking earlier this year on her podcast, The Katie Price Show, she claimed: “I’m not bankrupt anymore! I’m out of it, I’m out of both of them. The last six years have been hell — mentally and personally — everything has been hell. I’ve worked so hard to communicate and get rid of what caused all the trouble, and I’m out of it. It’s such a nice feeling not to be bankrupt anymore. I’m in control of everything now.”
Yet, for Peter Andre, the matter has little to do with finances and more to do with the wellbeing of his children. His circle insists that his priority is protecting his young family from further damaging remarks, and with lawyers now involved, the dispute between the former couple looks set to intensify in the coming months.
