A disturbing investigation has recently uncovered that leaders of a Sudanese paramilitary group have successfully secured a massive property portfolio within the glittering city of Dubai. This extensive collection of real estate assets, valued at approximately seventeen point seven million pounds, highlights a complex web of financial operations stretching across Africa and the Middle East. The Rapid Support Forces, which is a powerful militia currently embroiled in a brutal conflict, now finds its top leadership under intense international scrutiny regarding these suspicious holdings. Family members of the militia leader Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, who is commonly known as Hemedti, appear to be at the very centre of these controversial financial arrangements. According to detailed findings provided by the Sentry, which is a prominent investigative group based in the United States, these individuals have managed to acquire more than twenty distinct luxury properties in the United Arab Emirates. This revelation comes at a time when the war in Sudan has created the largest humanitarian catastrophe currently unfolding anywhere in the world today. With thirty-three million people out of a total population of fifty million now requiring urgent aid, the scale of this ongoing human tragedy is absolutely overwhelming for the international community. Furthermore, at least nineteen million citizens in Sudan are currently facing the dire consequences of acute hunger while the conflict continues to rage on without any clear end in sight.
The investigation further suggests that the United Arab Emirates serves as a safe haven for the leadership of the militia and their substantial accumulated wealth. Much of the funding for these luxury acquisitions is believed to originate from gold that is routinely smuggled out of the war-torn nation of Sudan through illicit channels. Hemedti famously seized complete control of a major goldmine located in the Darfur region back in two thousand seventeen, which allowed him to generate massive profits from the start. These gold exports have enabled him and his close family members to accumulate significant assets while the rest of their country suffers through the devastating effects of war. A sophisticated network of companies based in the United Arab Emirates has effectively allowed the militia leadership to convert this smuggled gold into hard currency at a rapid pace. Dubai has clearly emerged as a primary global hub for this precious metal, which is currently trading at record high prices on the international market. Nick Donovan, who serves as a senior investigator at the Sentry, has noted that the United Arab Emirates allows the militia to base a significant portion of its paramilitary industrial complex right in the heart of Dubai. He emphasized that the investigation clearly shows how the Dagalo family has found a very secure environment for protecting its vast wealth within the Emirates. While the Gulf state has been accused of providing weapons and mercenaries to the militia, it continues to deny all such allegations of foreign military support.
The analysis conducted by the Sentry regarding leaked real estate records has revealed that properties directly owned by a company linked to the militia and members of the Dagalo family were worth approximately seven point four million pounds. Additionally, real estate assets owned by various sanctioned individuals who are closely linked to the militia are estimated to be worth another ten point three million pounds. Some of the relatives belonging to Hemedti have acquired luxurious six-bedroom villas situated within a small, exclusive gated community that is located conveniently near the famous Meydan racecourse in Dubai. These expensive properties were purchased by a company registered in the United Arab Emirates called Prodigious Real Estate Management Supervision Services, whose owner has been previously linked to the lucrative gold trade. This specific individual was actually sanctioned by the United States for running other companies that were accused of providing both funding and essential military equipment to the militia. Further analysis of other data, including private phone records and various passport details, revealed that relatives of the Dagalo family have consistently congregated within this particular gated community over the years. Farther away from the city centre, the investigation also discovered that the wife of Hemedti successfully purchased a prime plot of land for over six hundred thousand pounds, which occurred just six months into the ongoing war in Sudan. This land is part of an unfinished luxury development project located near the prestigious Trump International Golf Club, which remains a highly desirable area for wealthy investors.
Other individuals with clear ties to the militia were also specifically named in the report, including a man named Mustafa Ibrahim Abdel Nabi Mohamed, who currently serves as a financial adviser to both the militia and the Dagalo family. He is currently sanctioned by both the European Union and the United Kingdom, and he is reportedly the owner of a luxury apartment worth over five hundred thousand pounds located in the iconic Burj Khalifa skyscraper. When contacted by the Sentry, the Dagalo family chose to decline any formal comment on whether its individual members currently hold these specific properties, though they stated that any assets were obtained through proper and legal channels. It is important to note that the ownership of property by members of the Dagalo family does not inherently constitute or imply any form of illegal wrongdoing. The family further stressed that its members have been engaged in legitimate commercial activities, such as international livestock trading, for several generations throughout the region. The Sentry was unable to reach the company known as Prodigious for any formal comment, but the organization noted that its owner had previously refused to answer questions regarding his role in other sanctioned companies, stating that those matters were currently subject to ongoing legal proceedings. Mohamed told the Sentry that he is not a financial adviser to the militia, but rather has been the financial director seconded to the organization since two thousand seventeen, during a period when it was a properly constituted entity governed by Sudanese law. He added that since the war began, he has not engaged in any activities that might hinder the peace or stability of the nation of Sudan. The United Arab Emirates has previously issued statements claiming that it categorically rejects all claims that it has provided weapons, funding, trainers, or logistical support to the militia during the conflict. Spokespeople for the country have been contacted for further comment on these new findings, but they have not yet provided a detailed response to the allegations. The militia is currently commanded by Hemedti and his two brothers, Abdelrahim and Algoney, all of whom have been placed under official international sanctions for their roles in the violence. Recently, the United Nations stated that the attack carried out by the militia on the western city of El Fasher last year bore the distinct and terrifying hallmarks of genocide, while the United States government has officially accused the group of committing acts of genocide against local populations. A separate report released just last week found a network of Colombian mercenaries, which was allegedly backed by the United Arab Emirates, provided critical tactical support to the militia during the final fall of the city of El Fasher. The ongoing international investigation continues to shed light on these hidden financial networks, bringing greater attention to the complex global systems that may inadvertently support actors involved in severe human rights abuses.
